Billy Jackson-Stops, the accomplished bloodstock consultant and founder of JS Bloodstock Consultancy in Newmarket, stands as a dynamic force in the global thoroughbred industry. Born with an innate affinity for horses, rooted in a background of hunting and point-to-pointing, Jackson-Stops transitioned from equestrian pursuits to a stellar career in racing. His journey began at Tattersalls, assisting renowned agent James Delahooke, followed by pivotal roles at Hascombe and Valiant Stud, where he prepared yearlings for elite sales, and as assistant trainer to Olly Stevens, Ralph Beckett, and Godolphin’s John O’Shea in Australia.
In 2018, Jackson-Stops launched JS Bloodstock Consultancy, swiftly establishing a reputation for astute acquisitions. His first yearling purchase, Shadn, won the Group 2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte, while Isle of Jura, sourced for Victorious Racing, claimed the 2024 Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes and Bahrain Triple Crown. Other successes include Group 2 winner Rogue Millennium and Group 1 Sydney Cup victor Circle of Fire. His consultancy manages prominent studs like Triermore and Lawn, and he has brokered stallion deals for sires like Bangkok and Kuroshio.
In April 2025, Jackson-Stops was appointed Racing Manager for Bahrain’s Victorious Racing, overseeing a string that includes Group 1 winners like Bradsell. Based in Newmarket, he leverages an extensive international network, regularly purchasing for trainers like George Scott and Andrew Balding. Known for his hands-on approach, sharp judgement, and integrity, Jackson-Stops combines tradition with innovation, using digital tools to keep clients informed. His ability to spot potential in the sales ring and nurture equine talent has cemented his status as a leading figure, shaping the future of bloodstock with vision and precision.
