Summer Suits and Separates

Summer Suits and Separates

The spring and summer months are prime time for lightweight linen tailoring, with outdoor events, weddings, and cocktail parties providing ample opportunities to dress up in elegant attire and let one's hair down. Many such events call for lounge suits or a 'cocktail' dress code, which opens up numerous sartorial options.

On the suit front, a beautiful linen style is a fantastic summer option. Linen is the most ecological of natural fibres, thanks to flax crops largely being naturally fed by rain water. From a style point of view, we've always been big fans of linen at Favourbrook, simply because it's such a great fabric to work with. Besides the slubby natural finish that gives it a subtle textural look, linen also drapes beautifully, a characteristic that even gets better with age, slowly conforming to your body shape so that it fits like the proverbial glove. It's also extremely lightweight and breathable, ticking all the boxes for elegant summer tailoring with a relaxed air.

At Favourbrook this season, we have created a number of linen suiting options that are perfect for summer events. As suits, they are at once smart and contemporary, being able to be styled in a classic way with a shirt and tie, but also in a more modern fashion with, say, a knitted polo shirt. Where you get bang for your buck however, is in the linen suit's ability to double up as separates, which of course gives you exponentially more sartorial options.

A blue linen suit jacket can, for example, be paired with cream chinos or even slim tapered jeans for a more dressed-down look, whereas a cream linen jacket can be paired with black dress trousers for an elegant evening look, or even a pair of tailored shorts and loafers for a relaxed day time option.

Favourbrook's embroidered dinner jackets are another great way to add more styling options to your summer wardrobe. Although they have been primarily designed with eveningwear in mind, the linen versions work equally well as day tie separates, paired with chinos or tailored trousers for a fun and confident look.
