The Four Faces of the Whitehall Coat

The Four Faces of the Whitehall Coat

When it comes to dressing for a sophisticated eveningwear function, it's the dress that typically absorbs most of our attention. On the surface of things, that makes perfect sense, because once in a venue and past the cloakroom, the dress is all we have! However, when the event is a drinks reception with no cloakroom (or indeed the venue is cold!) then one doesn't want to take one's coat off. Moreover, everyone has to make an entrance in a coat, so it should be suitably head-turning to set the tone for the rest of the evening!

To make a statement, there are few more outstanding coats than our Whitehall style, which this season we have created in four individual colours. The full length shape is immediately striking, creating a statuesque figure that finishes with a scalloped hemline which offers a sense of movement in the gathered skirt of the coat. The grown-on neck style can be worn 'popped', further elongating the figure.

We've used a stunning silk velvet fabric in each of the fours colours of coat, revealing a light yet rich deep pile that reveals subtle nuances of tone under lights. Besides the colours, perhaps the most striking element of the Whitehall coat is the delicate embroidery that rises from the hem, providing a delicate and ornate femininity to balance the richness of the silk velvet.

Each of the coats can be paired with a number of our silk dresses in the current collection, providing a supremely elegant tonal look that is perfect for smart evening occasions.
