The actor Brad Pitt has been making plenty of headlines recently for his style choices, with most superlatives aimed at how unconscionably well he dresses for his age, as if the male of the species somehow loses all sense of personal style when they get the wrong side of 50! Well, at Favourbrook, customers into their second demi-century seem to only improve as the years roll on, so Mr Pitt is not unique in that sense! Perhaps unique to the Hollywood icon is his ability to dress much younger than his years and pull it off - that's what genetics and a team of professionals can do for you.
Nevertheless, we were very pleased to see him sporting a tuxedo on the red carpet recently which put the proverbial cat among the pigeons, because said suit featured a pair of trousers with a very noticeable wide leg. Wearing a sleek double-breasted dinner jacket with a satin shawl lapel, from the waist down Mr Pitt's trouser legs refused to taper, and instead only got gradually wider the further south they travelled. Now, purists might at this stage be frothing at the mouths in a vituperative fit of rage, but we are wont to applaud Mr Pitt for his experimentation and boldness to the cause of modern menswear. For as much of the casual menswear silhouette has relaxed in the last decade, formalwear has remained largely anchored to the past. And by the way, there's nothing wrong with siding with the classics either, but change means diversity, and diversity means a good, buttery spread of individuality.
