A Dream in Green

A Dream in Green

Green is one our favourite colours, not least for its diversity, spanning a vast spectrum of hues, each with a different personality, from the deep rich forest greens at one end, to the vibrant apple and acid green hues at the other. In the winter season, we naturally seem to gravitate towards the dark tones, with their subtle nuances, especially when played out in velvet and silk fabrics. Did you know that green is also the most visible colour to the human eye due to its wavelength?

In its darkest guise, green takes on the sophistication of black, while simultaneously offering playful accents of emerald. There is an inherent glamour about it, but it's understated, never brash, which is why we love it. This season we have produced a number of stunning garments which bring out the best in the colour and will elevate your wardrobe with style and grace.

This deep green and emerald version of our stunning full-length Carnaby coat is perfect for elegant eveningwear. Glamorous and intriguing, this beautiful garment has been crafted in premium silk velvet, giving it an incredible lightness to offset the rich pile of the velvet. With emerald green embroidery rising from the skirt, it's a chic addition to other dark green tones, as well as a little black dress or black Le Smoking tuxedo. Another option in the Carnaby silhouette is our taupe and green floral style in silk velvet. This version is altogether more ornate thanks to the embroidered motif woven throughout the coat. The autumnal green tone makes it more versatile as a day-to-night coat.

Emerald or jewel green tones are often used as bright accents but when they are the garment's primary tone, one can create a very striking ensemble indeed. We have two particular styles that tick these boxes - the Westminster coat in Althorp silk velvet, and the Whitehall Coat in Green Highgrove Silk Velvet. The former is our at-the-knee style, and features a grown-on collar with flared cuffs and a stunning pink floral embroidery arrangement that perfectly complements the emerald hue. The latter is one of our favourite long-line silhouettes, cutting a statuesque figure, and again, delicately embellished with embroidery detailing.

Of the short jackets, our Chiswick and Trafalgar styles fulfil the dreamy green quotient, both coming in punchy green hues made even bolder by truly unique patterns. Both these styles are perfect for elegant daywear such as smart lunches where you want to turn heads with a sleek modern shape.
