Green is one our favourite colours, not least for its diversity, spanning a vast spectrum of hues, each with a different personality, from the deep rich forest greens at one end, to the vibrant apple and acid green hues at the other. In the winter season, we naturally seem to gravitate towards the dark tones, with their subtle nuances, especially when played out in velvet fabrics. Did you know that green is also the most visible colour to the human eye due to its wavelength.
In its darkest guise, green takes on the sophistication of black, while simultaneously offering playful accents of emerald. There is an inherent glamour about it, but it's understated, never brash, which is why we love it. This season we have produced two very different coats which bring out the best in the colour and will elevate your wardrobe with style and grace.
St James Coat Racing Green Plain Cotton Velvet
St James Coat Racing |
The St James coat is a new style for the Winter 23 collection, featuring a fitted, slim long-line silhouette with tonal detailing and a stand collar with subtle contrast trim. Sleek and chic, it's a versatile option for semi-formal eveningwear but also smart daywear too. It can be a very elegant layer over a little black dress, but we especially like styling it with our silk georgette Serena Circle dresses, not least the moss green style which provides a very chic tonal ensemble.
Eton Coat Dark Green Gwilym Silk Velvet
Eton Coat Dark Green |
Compared to the St James coat, this iteration of our perennial Eton coat silhouette is much more ornate thanks to the delicate embroidery details rising up symmetrically from the scalloped hem. Cut in a tailored style, it features a re-worked bodice and tailored pockets with back-button detailing. Cut from silk and rayon, this deep rich green tone is a stunning option for elegant eveningwear. The soft pink accents in the floral embroidery also allow it to be paired with similar hues, such as peach and coral pink.
