The Ultimate Guide to Exceptional Eveningwear

The Ultimate Guide to Exceptional Eveningwear

Over the course of the last decade, Favourbrook has helped pioneer a more flexible approach to black tie. Don't get us wrong - we absolutely continue to champion classic black tie, but we're also not so dogmatic that we can't see change happening before our very eyes. In the realm of eveningwear, a shift is most definitely afoot, with a discernible leaning towards velvet dinner jackets and embellished silk styles. While black is still the dominant choice when it comes to tuxedos, we've seen a much greater demand for colourful options, especially in velvet.

This season, we have created a number of different velvet styles, from single- and double-breasted dinner jackets to beautiful smoking jackets with traditional frogging details and sweeping shawl lapels. All of them can be a direct replacement for a classic black or midnight tuxedo jacket, paired with black dress trousers, but they offer a different textural quality that will make you stand out from the crowd.

Alongside Favourbrook’s eclectic velvet dinner jacket collection, which this season includes styles crafted in tones such as claret, racing green, burgundy, olive and sapphire blue, there is also the perennial silk botanics collection, which is recognisable for its vibrant geometric floral patterns. These are the jackets for the extravagant, the rulebreakers, and the mavericks. Each jacket has been delicately embellished with exquisite embroidery, resulting in a unique sartorial work of art. The botanics collection is a decadent and playful interpretation of black tie in rich autumnal tones to add a touch of glamour to the ensemble.

Moreover, we have also created a beautiful range of needlecord jackets which can by styled with a black grosgrain silk bow tie and traditional black satin stripe tuxedo trousers for a relaxed black tie look with tonnes of texture. Traditional black tie can be stunning, but one shouldn’t be restricted by sartorial dogma. Times change and styles do too. So don’t be cowed into toeing the line - make a statement with our alternative black tie looks this season.
