Behind the scenes - Spring/Summer '22

Behind the scenes - Spring/Summer '22

If you've ever been on a photoshoot, you'll know that it's all glamour, champagne, and pouting. One could hardly call it work really. The photographer presses a button, the model throws a steely yet enticing glare, and the interesting background does the rest. If only that were so!

The truth is that attaining a collection of beautiful images involves a good deal of standing around, head-scratching, experimentation, tweaking, scrapping, reshooting, hauling, breaking, fixing, and yes, a little pouting here and there. It is, despite all this, an extremely rewarding process when it all comes together and one sees the final images, as you do here.

We were lucky enough to shoot this collection at the amazing Carlton House Terrace on the Mall, a building steeped in historical significance (click here to read all about it). Behind the camera was Dan Annett, a great friend of Favourbrook who has long been involved with shooting our campaign imagery, as well as Chris Ingham, who was shooting our ecommerce shots (the ones you see when you click our products). Suffice to say still images are never enough in these days of insatiable content devouring so we also had Owen Rhys shooting moving images.

One's images are only ever as good as one's models, so we were in very safe hands with Dennis, George and Alex, preened to perfection by Harsha Chavda on hair and make-up, and styled with consummate flair by Julian Brown, Oliver Spencer, Ethan Buttress & William Gilchrist for men, and Sophie Hives and Theresa Bodaly for womenswear.

Half the battle with campaign shoots, or any shoots for that matter, is the light and its changeability. One minute the sun is streaming through floor-to-ceiling windows, bathing a room in rich beams of light, the dust dancing in a warm stupor. Then in a blink of an eye, the omnipresent threat of clouds becomes real and said room is plunged into a torpid gloom. With a venue as grand as Carlton House Terrace however, we were never short of interesting vignettes.

While glossy campaign images are a beautiful way to present the new collection to you, we hope some of these behind the scenes images also give you a sense of the clothing in more raw and candid form without the benefit of artificial lighting. One gets a true sense of how the colours and fabrics come alive in natural light.

Many thanks once again to everyone involved in the shoot, not least the team at Carlton House Terrace who made the day seamless.
