We're thrilled to present you with the first look at our new Autumn/Winter 24 collection at Favourbrook Menswear, as the lightweight silhouettes of the summer give way to an all new flamboyance and textural makeover inspired by 1970s references. The new menswear collection riffs on the themes that pervaded sartorial menswear through the early part of the '70s, when bold tones and textural fabrics had become well established since the so-called 'Peacock revolution' which had started in the late 50s.
The New Autumn/Winter 24 Menswear Collection Has Arrived
"The 70s was a really interesting and experimental period for menswear on the whole as many different subcultures came to the fore," explains Favourbrook founder Oliver Spencer. "But for all the different tribes that emerged, the one thing tying them together was a new and creative approach to fabrics. There were some pretty wild silhouettes too, but I remember being fascinated by all the different types of textures available. Denim and corduroy took centre stage before designers started to get to grips with synthetic fibres such as nylon and polyester. It was a really pivotal moment and menswear felt like it was shifting towards a new modern identity."
Nowhere in the collection is this theme better exemplified than in our frill dress shirts in ivory and muted pink poplin fabrics, demonstrating a nostalgic flamboyance that translates perfectly into contemporary eveningwear. Velvet, too, takes centre stage, with a new roster of deep rich hues imbuing the collection with warmth.
Smoking jackets and dinner jackets constructed from soft cotton piles of chocolate, olive, emerald green and a deep red port usher in a decadent translation of black-tie dressing, while corduroy suits in moss green, olive, pink and navy come with pronounced wales for an accentuated tactility. It all adds up to a collection of equal parts charm, confidence, and charisma.
