While you'll never hear us complain about a blossoming late summer, there is that transition period between seasons that one often wishes it would rectify itself one way or the other! A hot day followed by a wet chilly day is no help for wardrobe considerations! Late summer weddings can often experience two or three different seasons in a single day so one's attire needs to be versatile, while many of you will need to keep an eye on a slew of forthcoming autumn events which can also throw into the mix some warm days.
Versatility is the key word when thinking about between-the-seasons outfits. Of course, the type of event will help to decide the style or aesthetic that is required, but if we are typically thinking about a smart day event, then there are a couple of things that are important to consider, the first being fabric.
Linen is a wonderful summer fabric, and for our mind, is underused in the transition period. Too often it is ONLY thought of as a summer fabric but it is remarkably adaptable and will work perfectly on warmer autumn days (although avoid if the weather forecast is wet!). The vast majority of our linen coats are constructed from a brilliant crease-resistant style for a dependably smooth finest. Silk is another versatile cloth that is also thought of as too 'delicate' for trans-seasonal wear, but it is in fact an incredibly strong natural fibre. Despite being incredibly lightweight, it has amazing heat properties too, providing a surprising level of warmth when the weather turns. Whether as a coat or a dress, it is certainly a cloth to consider right now.
