Some country houses are best appreciated from a polite distance: admired for their symmetry, their heritage, their ability to make a passing cloud look more picturesque. Neston Park is different. It has the unmistakable drama of a great English estate, certainly, but it also has the sense of a place that continues to live, evolve and host a good story.
Set in the Wiltshire village of Neston, just south of Corsham, the present house dates from around 1790. It stands within a private estate of roughly 5,000 acres, and is Grade II-listed—a suitably grand setting for rooms that reward candlelight, drawing-room drinks and the civilised practice of changing for dinner.
The land itself has a much longer history. The Neston estate was assembled in the 15th century by Thomas Tropenell, before passing through the Eyre family and, by marriage, to the Hanham family. Around 1790, it was sold to John Fuller, who built Neston House. The estate has remained associated with the Fuller family ever since—a name that will be familiar to anyone who has ever ordered a pint of London Pride, as the family owned Fuller’s Brewery in London.
This is, in other words, a house with the right sort of credentials: architectural poise, a long family story and a close relationship with conviviality. One imagines that the Fullers understood the importance of a well-stocked cellar and an evening that is allowed to run on slightly longer than intended.
Neston Park has also had a colourful place in British cultural life. It has hosted filming for Lark Rise to Candleford, Persuasion and Poldark, before taking on perhaps its most recognisable recent role: The Falconry, the formidable home of Lord Tony and Lady Monica Baddingham in Disney+’s Rivals. In that role, the house became a suitably extravagant backdrop for garden parties, helicopter landings and the kind of socially combustible weekends that make ordinary dinner-party small talk seem mercifully brief.
For Favourbrook’s Autumn/Winter ’26 campaign, Neston Park offered something rather more enduring. Its formal rooms, wide lawns and quietly theatrical interiors provided the ideal setting for a collection inspired by country-house dressing: not costume, not nostalgia, but the enduring pleasure of making an occasion of an evening. The house speaks to a version of British life in which clothes remain part of the ritual—jackets chosen for dinner, velvet catching the light, silk moving through a hallway, and guests gathering before the table is called.
There is a renewed sense of stewardship here, too. In the late 1990s, the estate entered a Countryside Stewardship Scheme that supported hedge, wall and wildflower-margin restoration. It is a reminder that a country house is not merely a building, but a landscape, a working history and a setting whose character depends on care.
