New Collab: Favourbrook x Jeffrey-West - Prince Albert Slipper

There are certain London friendships that make perfect sense once you notice them. Oliver Spencer and Guy West have been friends and neighbours for years - two men who have spent their working lives making occasionwear that takes dressing seriously without taking itself too seriously. When they decided to collaborate on a limited-edition capsule of velvet Prince Albert slippers, it felt less like a formal partnership and more like the natural next conversation.

The result is a small collection of slippers cut in three richly coloured cotton velvets: Burgundy with black bees, Navy with black bees, and Olive with gold bees. Each pair is finished with Favourbrook’s embroidered bee emblem, a quiet but unmistakable signature. The slippers are made in the classic Prince Albert style: whole-cut vamp, high square tongue, leather piping and leather soles so the velvet can do what velvet does best: catch the light, feel luxurious under the hand, and give an evening its proper sense of occasion. And to underline the collaboration's rebellious attitude, on the leather sole is carved one of Oscar Wilde's most wry quotes: 'I don't want to go to heaven - none of my friends are there.'

“Guy and I have been friends and neighbours for years, so this felt like a very easy and enjoyable collaboration to bring to life,” says Oliver Spencer. “I have always loved the theatricality and confidence of Jeffery-West’s shoes. The Prince Albert slipper is already such a brilliant canvas for texture and colour, and the bee gives it a distinctly Favourbrook character. They are shoes for proper evenings when you want to dress up, enjoy yourself and look the part.”

That is very much the point. Black tie still has its essential codes, but the best interpretations leave room for personality. A velvet slipper is one of the most effective ways of introducing it - a small gesture that signals you have dressed with intention rather than merely followed a brief. The clean, unbroken line of the upper lets the pile speak; the bee across the vamp adds a note of wit without disturbing the elegance. They are not shoes for every night. They are for the nights when you have decided to make the effort.

The collaboration is a reminder of something Favourbrook has always believed: the pleasure of dressing well after dark is best shared. Two London houses that understand craftsmanship, character and the particular satisfaction of looking the part have simply made something together that feels like both of them. The slippers are available in limited numbers, as these things should be.
