The cigarette trouser remains the foundational shape. Slim, tailored and cropped around the ankle, it draws on the poised, graphic dressing of the 1950s and 1960s, but feels as fresh now as it did when it first became a favourite of screen icons and European modernists. Pair it with a silk shell and a tailored jacket or waistcoat for a cocktail invitation, then add heels and statement jewellery to turn some heads.

For a softer silhouette, palazzo trousers offer movement, length and a little theatre.
