Finally!! Summer has well and truly arrived after one of the wettest months of May on record and we - along with the entirety of the British population - can't wait to get out and enjoy it. With a mask in one hand, and a glass of something cold in the appropriately-sanitised other, this season should be a very memorable one given the circumstances, and while everything is not quite back to normal, life at the very least is resembling something close to it. So for this month's Register we thought we'd give you a heads up on the cultural events on the radar and equip you with the knowledge and attire to stylishly navigate smart social occasions. In other words, plenty of excuses to dress up and feel good.

First up on our diary is perhaps the biggest event of the summer season, even with the crowd restrictions. It is of course Royal Ascot, an event very close to our heart here at Favourbrook because of the formalwear connection. It is without doubt the smartest event of the season, with ladies in all manner of beautiful dresses and jackets, while the gents stride about the enclosures in fine morning suits and waistcoats. As Official Licensee this year, we're especially interested to see how the gents style their ensembles, given the fact that the navy morning coat is for the first time being allowed to be worn in the Royal Enclosure.

Glyndebourne has reopened for the season which will literally be music to the ears of opera lovers. Situated at the foot of the stunning South Downs, it is the most magical place to get dressed up and watch some of the world's premier operatic talents. With the festival running until late August, there is plenty of opportunity to dress up and enjoy the world-class performances.
Black tie is typically the order when it comes to dress code, but we can't think of an event better suited to Favourbrook's more avant garde dinner jackets, given Glyndebourne's beautiful gardens and picturesque setting. If you need any advice then scroll down and read our piece on embellished dinner jackets which should offer some ideas!

Finally, next week also marks the beginning of British Flowers Week, which will be acknowledged by an outstanding floral arrangement in the windows of Favourbrook's womenswear store on Pall Mall. Centred around the New Covent Garden Market, there are some really interesting events on all week, providing endless inspiration for horticulturalists and fashionistas alike! We love floral designs here at Favourbrook so there will be plenty of note-taking! For a full itinerary, head to britishflowersweek.com.

The sound of wedding bells...
If your mantelpiece is starting to bow under the weight of wedding invitations this summer, know that you are not alone! Given that last year was a matrimonial write-off, the aisles this season are going to be extremely busy with doe-eyed couples tying the knot so whether you are simply a guest after a versatile linen suit or perhaps even the mother-of-the-bride, we have exactly what you need to look the part.
For gentlemen, the summer wedding is often something of a conundrum, especially when the dress code is ambiguous, or at least not explicit. It's difficult to go wrong with the aforementioned linen suit however, and you can find some stunning examples and how to wear them right here.

For ladies, or even mothers-of-the-bride, a wedding outfit can be a tricky thing to pull off, since one requires an outfit to be chic, sophisticated, elegant, and just enough of different to make a subtle statement. Thankfully that, in a nutshell, describes Favourbrook! We have opined on some beautiful options in our mother-of-the-bride story which you can read here.
Enjoy the glorious spell of weather we're having and if you're going to Royal Ascot good luck at the tote!
