Where tradition meets modernity: introducing Favourbrook’s AW21 collection

Where tradition meets modernity: introducing Favourbrook’s AW21 collection

After the tumult of the last 18 months, it was truly a joy to design this Autumn/Winter 21 menswear collection safe in the knowledge that society would once again be back to normal, or at least a “new normal”. For so long bereft of mingling with our friends, one did briefly wonder what the future might be for occasionwear, traditional menswear and the art of dressing up. But much like the human spirit, timeless tailoring seems undaunted by any such bumps in the road and so this collection is in part a tribute to the beautiful stoicism of classic menswear.

“Rather than try to reinvent the wheel, or in our case, change our DNA in order to accommodate the growth of casualwear in menswear, we stiffened our upper lips and dug our polished Oxford heels in to design a collection that fully encapsulated the timelessness of traditional formalwear.” Favourbrook founder, Oliver Spencer.

This is nowhere better exemplified than in our morning suits, which we have cut from a variety of fabrics including recycled cashmere, merino wool, and soft cotton cord (the latter of which has lapels finished with a black silk grosgrain trim). This collection also sees the reintroduction of the navy Furlong morning suit which was wonderfully received last season and looks set to become a modern classic.

Autumn is perhaps our favourite time of the year for it marks the beginning of the eveningwear season that begins with many a smart or formal event pre-Christmas before the season culminates in the early part of next year. It also runs in lock-step with film awards season when we witness the stars of the big screen adorning red-carpet events in black tie. We have created a vast number of black tie menswear options, from the very traditional to the bold and exuberant. Our dinner jackets are designed to extend and embellish the personality of the wearer thanks to the very best fabrics, artisanal construction and unique twists such as ornate floral embroidery. This collection will make you rethink the boundaries of black tie.

Similarly, our smoking jackets represent a sartorial tradition that has rolled with the punches of many an ephemeral trend, and yet is still a modern and versatile study of elegance. Besides our Grosvenor and double-breasted smoking jackets, our rich velvet piles have also been used to create alternative dinner jackets and a key piece for this season - the velvet Nehru jacket, which amalgamates an Eastern silhouette with very British tailoring practices.

Besides the jackets, this collection features a host of season-appropriate waistcoats for both formalwear and smart tailored looks. From geometric patterns to more elaborate floral designs, the waistcoat palette is full of rich autumnal hues from moss green to burnt orange and ochre.
