The Favourbrook Process: How to Secure Your Wedding Look

The Favourbrook Process: How to Secure Your Wedding Look

Congratulations! If you've booked a morning suit consultation at Favourbrook, chances are you're getting married or have snaffled some tickets to Royal Ascot - either way, excellent work, sir! One of the most important factors of either occasion is how you look, which involves making a number of difficult decisions. However, you're on the right track choosing us, because we have a  wealth of experience when it comes to men's formalwear, not to mention one of the largest collections of waistcoats in the world.

Understanding Your Preferences

From the moment you walk through our doors at 16 Pall Mall, we'll help you to find a morning suit look that you are supremely confident in. We'll fill you in on the etiquette of formalwear, the rules to stick to and the ones to bend. Rest assured there are no stupid questions, so if you are ever in doubt about anything, do not be afraid to ask. Naturally, we'll ask you a lot of questions too! When are you getting married? Where is it taking place? What will your bride be wearing? Have chosen the flowers yet? What are your colour preferences? Do you intend on losing any weight before the big day (you'd be surprised the number of people who come in, get fitted, then drop a stone training like mad and then wonder why their trousers are bunching at the ankles!), and so on. We're not being nosey, we just want to understand as best we can your requirements. We don't want you to walk away with a waistcoat and tie combination that is at complete odds with your floral arrangements for example.

The Main Event: The Morning Suit

Before we get to the fine details though, the morning suit is always front and centre. We'll discuss with you the various options to understand if you have any preferences - whether you enjoy the classic look of black morning coat and cashmere stripe trousers, or if you would prefer a slightly more contemporary look in the form of a charcoal grey or navy blue morning suit. Once you've decided, we'll measure you up to see if any alterations are required, to ensure the fit is as perfect as it can be.

How To Choose A Waistcoat

The next steps to contend with the accessories, namely the waistcoat, tie and pocket square, and although seemingly small compared to the morning suit, they are vitally important to get right since they inject colour and pattern into your left. We can also help you choose a shirt, too, but that is a relatively simple task. The waistcoat is the primary consideration, and often the hardest given that we have such an extensive collection. The single most important factor is the fit, whether you are choosing a single-breasted or double-breasted style. It must sit flush on the chest and be long enough so that no part of the shirt at the waist is visible.

The question of waistcoat style requires chewing over a number of variables, but our extremely knowledgeable staff will be able to help with this. From when the wedding is taking place, the type of venue, and the aforementioned floral arrangements can all be factors in deciding upon the colour, fabric and pattern of the waistcoat, so come prepared to try plenty on! Once you have made a decision, we can then advise about tie and pocket square combinations.

Above all, it's a fun process and not in the least bit daunting, even if you've never worn morning dress before. Between Julian, Sam, and the rest of the team at Pall Mall, as well as Agata at our waistcoats and accessories boutique in the Piccadilly Arcade, we have many decades of experience and have dressed literally thousands of Ascot-goers and grooms so you are in very safe and skilled hands.
