Spotlight On: The Westminster Coat

Spotlight On: The Westminster Coat

Fashions ebb and flow, boom and bust, breakout and disappear, but sophistication and elegance tend to stand the test of time. Our Westminster coat is one such garment that has remained true to form for many years and is the reason why so many of our customers keep returning to it. The combination of a slim-cut flattering silhouette, grown-on collar and delicate embroidery details is what gives the Westminster coat its timeless appeal.

While the on-the-knee silhouette is a constant, the details change from season to season as we accommodate new fabrics, inspirations, palettes and moods. The Spring/Summer collection is naturally brighter and bolder as the weather and light affords us more options with our colour palette, hence why this season's Westminster coat incarnations are imbued with a confident vibrance, whether that be in the tonality or the detailing.

This season we have incorporated a number of different crease-resist linen iterations, as well as silk options, making the Westminster coat perfect for summer weddings and smart events.

Westminster Coat White Sand Gold Vienne Silk Shantung

Understated, minimalist, and unequivocally elegant, this sand tone Westminster coat is the epitome of 'quiet luxury'. The silhouette and button details do all the talking, while the muted hue says sophistication in hushed tones. Pair with a white or tonal sand slip dress for a beautifully feminine look.

Westminster Coat Red Aida Crease Resist Linen

With delicate hand-stitched golden leaf details, this bold red rendition of the Westminster coat is a wonderful option for making a statement this summer. The crease-resist linen lends it a subtle textural finish, too. It's especially elegant worn with our Josephine Dress Pumice Reverse Connaught Silk as seen in the image above.

Westminster Coat Pale blue Parsifal Crease Resist Linen

Cornflower blue has to be one of our favourite summer colours, giving your looks a light and delicate attitude. This Westminster coat has been embellished with darker blue and white floral embroidery that rises elegantly from the piped scalloped hem. It pairs well with other blue tones as well and whites and creams.

Westminster Coat Ivory Elektra Silk Organza

One of our more glamorous Westminster iterations, this stunning sheer organza silk style with a bold aqua blue pattern is an excellent option for elegant day-to-night events this summer. It hs been designed to be worn with our Josephine Dress Aqua Plain Silk Douppion for a beautiful tonal ensemble.

Westminster Coat Peony Delamere Crease Resist Linen

We love the colour pink and all its myriad hues but this peony tone has to be one of the chicest we've ever used. The embroidery details give this Westminster coat a sense of craft and uniqueness, but its the peony that wins all the plaudits. What's more, it has a subtle textural finish to it thanks to the crease-resist linen. A great option for summer weddings when you want something with wow factor.
