Staff Picks for Christmas: What Our Team Will Be Recommending This Festive Season

Staff Picks for Christmas: What Our Team Will Be Recommending This Festive Season

As the festive season gathers momentum and invitations begin to mount, attention naturally turns to what to wear for dinners, celebrations and winter occasions. Velvet takes centre stage, rich tones feel instantly uplifting, and the pleasure of dressing up returns with full force. No one understands this better than the people who guide our customers every day, so we asked three members of our team to select the garments and accessories they are most excited about this Christmas.

From expressive menswear to distinctive waistcoats and beautifully made womenswear, their selections highlight the pieces that come into their own during the festive period. Whether your celebrations involve black tie dinners, hosting at home or simply wanting to feel well dressed for winter occasions, these are the styles our team believe work especially well at this time of year.

Julian’s Menswear Picks

Manager, Favourbrook Menswear Store

“I always find myself leaning into velvet at this time of year. The Midnight Nene Dinner Jacket is a favourite because the crushed velvet has such presence without ever feeling over the top. I also love the Fawn Artist Jacket and the Olive Newport Jacket for their versatility, ideal for daytime gatherings or evening events. Dark green remains one of the smartest winter colours, which is why the Bottle Green Shawl Lapel Dinner Jacket is such a strong choice. The Burgundy Velvet Bees Waistcoat and our dusky pink frill shirt both add a little twist, and for accessories, I keep returning to the Prussian Turnworth Tie and a larger silk bow tie to round off the look.”

Agata’s Waistcoat and Accessories Picks

Manager, Waistcoats and Accessories, Piccadilly Arcade

“I chose waistcoats and accessories that genuinely feel special for winter. The Midnight and Multi Idris styles are favourites because the velvet patterns are unusual and never predictable, while the Red Lurex Berries Waistcoat captures the festive mood perfectly. For quieter elegance, I recommend the Black Velvet Waistcoat with Piping or the Olive Velvet version, both beautiful with dark tailoring. In accessories, I love the Bottle Green Velvet Bow Tie for being classic but not obvious, and the Red Gold Bees Silk Tie always makes a great gift. The Burgundy Albert Cummerbund set is a smart alternative to a waistcoat and the Ivory Albert Pocket Square is a simple, refined finishing touch.”

Theresa’s Womenswear Picks

General Manager, Favourbrook Womenswear

“I have chosen pieces that feel special yet effortless to wear during the festive period. The Royal Blue Whitehall Coat is a standout for me because the Swarovski crystals catch the light so beautifully. The Oxford Dress Coat offers comfort with real luxury, while the Carnaby Coat is wonderfully versatile, worn either as a dress or over trousers. The Camden Jacket makes dressing up very easy and the Kemi Jacket is my go to cut for style and comfort. I also love the Balham Jacket, a clever reversible design that works just as well for daytime as it does for evening.”
