Into the swing of things

Into the swing of things

The swing coat is a perennial favourite here at Favourbrook, not least in the summer when the fluidity of the coat really comes into its own. Many people think of Audrey Hepburn when they imagine a swing coat, and they would be quite right - Hepburn loved the the fitted narrow shoulder line and progressively looser silhouette as the coat falls at the waist. In many ways, it's a vintage silhouette and very much a symbol of '50s glamour, which is partly why we love it so much! Needless to stay, it translates into a modern wardrobe very well.

SWING COAT PEONY WARSAW CREASE RESIST LINEN

SWING COAT PEONY
WARSAW CREASE-RESIST LINEN

It was originally designed to accommodate a full length dress underneath, and that is exactly what you can do with Favourbrook's swing coat options this season. We've cut three styles in a combination of different linen fabrics, all lightweight, breathable and beautifully textural. Our Peony pink style uses a crease-resistant linen with an extremely soft handle, embroidered with a contrast off-white floral design that elegantly rises from the hem up towards the neckline. It works really well with tonal pink dresses or alternatively white and cream dresses.

 SWING JACKET NAVY BERLIN LINEN

BERLIN LINEN

Our Berlin linen option comes in a rich navy tone with a contrasting white floral pattern that encompasses the entire coat. Perhaps more versatile than the pink version, this navy style pairs well with most tones of blue, cream, white and even bolder accents of orange and yellow. The three-quarter length sleeves give a breezy summer feel and allow you to better accessorise your wrists!

 SWING JACKET IVORY DICKINSON LINEN

Finally, our swing coat in Ivory Dickinson linen is perhaps the most playful of the three, featuring a vibrant pink rose motif throughout which references blooming English summers. With a slightly straighter and less pronounced silhouette than the other swing coats, this version also features a roomier sleeve, all of which gives the effect of a cropped kimono jacket. It's a fantastic coat for smart summer occasions but it can equally be worn with a pair of jeans and heels.
