Here at Favourbrook, we are renowned for our sartorial expertise across all genres of formal menswear, but it is perhaps our waistcoats that take top billing. We've been producing some of the finest waistcoats in the world for nearly three decades and are very proud of the craftsmanship that goes into each and every one.
A great deal of love, time, and artisanal expertise goes into making one of our waistcoats. We use only the finest hand-selected fabrics, the vast majority of which come from British mills. Whether it's wool or slubby linen, our cloths are of the highest standard and provenance. Of the former, we tend to use only the finest gabardine wool sourced from a Yorkshire mill we have used for many years. Gabardine is a durable worsted wool that is woven as a warp-faced steep or regular twill, with a prominent diagonal rib on the face and smooth surface on the back. It's very breathable and keeps its shape fantastically well.
Moreover, our waistcoats are cut and produced right here in London, affording us the opportunity for unparalleled quality control. If God is in the details, then our waistcoats are positively divine: we use Mother of Pearl buttons (and smoked pearl buttons) in virtually all of our single- and double-breasted styles, which gives them an elevated sense of luxury and the perfect modicum of glamour to set them apart from any others on the market. The silk linings and immaculate pocket details continue to raise the bar for what a truly luxury waistcoat should be. And in our single-breasted waistcoats, we introduce stunning embroidery details to really make a luxury statement.
The cut couldn't be more precise, and we have spent years upon years perfecting the single-breasted block, and tweaking the elliptical sweep of the double-breasted waistcoat so that it sits in perfect harmony with your suit and morning suit lapels.
How the waistcoat sits at the waist is incredibly to the overall look. As you can see from the product images above, the double-breasted style has a squared off finish and so it is especially important that the waistcoat is long enough so as not to see any shirt. The bottom right button is typically left unbuttoned, too. The single-breasted style has a V-shaped finish and it is proper etiquette to always leave the bottom button unfastened.
