With outdoor gatherings limited to the ominous-sounding "Rule of 6" up to now, we can't wait to finally be able to stretch our social wings and host people other than our family members in our homes and gardens. Now there's nothing wrong with family members of course - in many cases covid 19 has brought families closer together - but when you've known them all of your life, the repartee can get a little predictable, shall we say?!
It should all change come May 17, when the limitations on seeing friends is lifted and we become responsible for assessing the risk of our own circumstances. So that got us thinking about those wonderfully decadent Slim Aarons' images of poolside drinks soirees in the 60s and 70s, when Aarons would bag himself invitations to the lavish homes of the beau monde in order to document the high life. What's so great about some of these images is on the one hand the beautifully manicured gardens like something straight out of a film set, but also the immaculate attire of the guests. How we'd love to teleport and find out what they're all talking about!
Which brings us neatly on to our own attire for these long awaited social gatherings. By the time we can welcome guests back to our humble abodes and gardens, the weather should be considerably closer to approaching "glorious" which means we can well and truly embrace summer style!
Gentlemen, that means casual separates of the cotton and linen varieties, together with relaxed shirts and loafers for a softly tailored Mediterranean approach to style. 'Sprezzatura' is key here - you want to achieve that fine balance between polished and ambivalent that Italian and French sartorialists seem to be born with.

ALBANY MIDNIGHT SILK |
Linen is the ideal fabric to achieve this look because the natural crinkle in the flax fibre takes the smart edge off of traditional tailoring. Favourbrook have created a number of plain linen shirts that fit the bill nicely. We've chosen to construct these in neutral tones such as navy and cream so that they can be easily worn with just about every other colour in your wardrobe, and especially our cotton and linen blazers.

For something with a little more sartorial zing, there is the tropical shirt and tailoring combination, which has been picking up a great head of steam in well-dressed circles in recent years. There is something about the juxtaposition of what must be one of the most casual styles of shirt a man can own - the Hawaiian shirt - and the straight formal lines of a suit or separates, but pitching them together just seems to work! Our Oratory and Burlington shirts feature unique geometric and floral prints that create a bold and beautiful contrast to linen and cotton blazers, especially in lighter tobacco and cream tones.

For the ladies, the next few months of eased restrictions affords the chance to wear your summer favourites once again, with fluid floral dresses top of the list. Breezy, carefree silhouettes offer a touch of dressed-down chic when worn with a pair of strappy sandals. At once feminine and fun, the floral motifs in this season's Favourbrook collection are presented in a variety of styles, some calm and classic, while others have a vibrant tropical theme. Either way, they are fantastic ways to wear your confidence on your collective sleeves!

FLORENCE DRESS MULTI |
It wouldn't be an English summer without some mercurial weather, which is why we would always recommend a lightweight coat as an elegant extra layer. Svelte and sophisticated in the silhouette, our full length coats pair perfectly with our dresses, with complementary floral motifs combining with rich colours and luxurious silk and linen fabrics. Adding an extra touch of formality to a look, they are a wonderful addition to your summer wardrobe!
