While one's suits and separates usually get all the attention when it comes to dressing for summer events, the humble shirt is an integral part of one's tailored wardrobe and should never be taken lightly! The shirt can completely transform the formality of a suit, depending on the fabric it is constructed from, its colour, and its collar style, so it should be given ample consideration. At Favourbrook this season, we have an eclectic collection of shirts that tick every kind of sartorial box, so whether you want opt for a classic lounge suit look, or want to shake things up a bit, you'll find the perfect luxury shirt to do so.
The Gatsby Shirt
F. Scott Fitzgerald describes Jay Gatsby as having shirts 'piled like bricks in stacks a dozen high' and writes that, upon seeing his collection, Daisy Buchanan cried because she had never seen such beautiful shirts before. Our Gatsby shirt is worthy of such admiration with its sharp, slim cut, structured formal collar with double button fastening, and French double cuff. Crafted from two-fold fine quality poplin, this lightweight cloth is beautifully finished by a concealed button front and benefits from the added comfort and stretch of a split yolk across the shoulders.

The White Shirt
The great white shirt is the cornerstone of every sartorial wardrobe but you'd be wrong if you thought that every white shirt was the same. From ivory tones to unique collar configurations and decorative bib fronts, the white shirt is anything but boring. Favourbrook has, of course, a great selection of luxurious white shirts with classic spread collars for smart events such as weddings, but we also have a number of more extravagant styles that an really elevate your look.

The Linen Shirt
Linen is our favourite summer fabric, thanks to that lovely slubby finish, the breezy lightweight handle, and great breathability. It's also the most ecological of all the natural fibres. We particularly love how its drape improves with age, as well as its naturally casual aura, which can be a great addition to a suit or separates when you want to tone down the formality. We have a number of styles in different colours that are extremely versatile (not least our safari shirts), able to be worn casually with a roll-up in the sleeve, or with your favourite summer tailoring.

The Indigo Shirt
Indigo-dyed garments are unrivalled for their rich hue and they can make a powerful sartorial statement when paired with neutral toned separates. Indigo shirts also work really well with navy tailoring too, helping to lift the nuances in the dark blue cloth. Pair them with light-coloured chinos, a navy blazer, and tan loafers for a sophisticated 'sprezzatura' look. Rip up the rule book with our slim-fit double cuff pintuck shirt in a rich, indigo-dyed linen. Finished with a pleated front as per traditional dress shirts, it's a great way to throw a curveball at summer tailoring. Alternatively, wear it casually with denim jeans to mix up the smart-casual genres.

The Contrast-Collar Shirt
Contrast collar shirts, especially those of the Eton collar variety, have traditional been reserved for business attire, or at least they have since Michael Douglas sported one in the original Wall Street movie. We think that rather restricts the contrast-collar's sartorial potential because it is actually a fantastic smart summer shirt for when you want to add some flair to a suit. The white collar and pastel tone shirt body really helps to accentuate the tie and guide the viewer's gaze to one's face, which is the point. Cut in a soft micro-pinstripe cotton, our contrast collar styles feature a short rounded club collar, which can be nicely complemented with a small four-in-hand. They pair beautifully with traditional morning dress, too.
