Green with Envy

Green with Envy

With Halloween quietly creeping up on us, in the fantastical creatures of a green tinge we thought we would bring to light some of our favourite verdant coats from the Autumn/Winter '22 collection. There's a reason why looking out onto grassy pastures or dense forests seems so intrinsically satisfying. The human eye is trichomatic, meaning we perceive three primary colours - red, green, and blue - and green just happens to exist slap bang in the middle of the colour spectrum with a wavelength of 550 nanometres, where our visual perception is at its best.

It's a widely used colour in fashion too, although it's often the olive tones that get all the limelight because of just how versatile they are. However, at Favourbrook this season we decided to explore richer, deeper hues because they boast such amazing vitality. They're bold for sure, but have a soft exuberance that the likes of red, orange and yellow can never achieve.

The spectrum of green is wonderfully versatile too, being dark and seductive at one end, while vibrant and light at the other. For autumn/winter, we've focused on the former, bringing out the deep subtle nuances of forest green tones to perfectly complement a winter wardrobe. Our Eton coat in emerald green cotton velvet is a stunning long-line example. With a two button closure and high-waisted cut, it's a form-enhancing silhouette with incredible depth in the tone.

Our emerald green Trafalgar jacket is cut in a beautiful silk velvet with an amazing textural finish thanks to the bow patterning. It's a simple yet extremely elegant collarless jacket that can be worn in a multitude of ways, from cigarette pants to our green Selena circle dress.

One of the deepest shades of green belongs to our Eton coat in Delamere silk velvet. With the most delicate embroidery rising from the scalloped hem and finishing just shy of the waist, this Eton coat is a sophisticated option for when attending winter weddings, or events where you want to make an impression without resorting to bolder, more vibrant tones.

Westminster Coat Dark Green Unger Silk Velvet

Similarly, the Westminster coat in dark green Unger silk velvet brings out the best in the rich green velvet pile by contrasting it with the delicate red, pink and tonal green embroidery that forms the floral motif dancing about the skirt of the coat. Bold yet decidedly feminine all at once.
